London-Light (1991)

My interest in using natural light in domestic settings started a long time ago. Here is another example of it working well. I went to photograph my friend at her digs in Hampstead. Her room was rather small but just using the carpet at the foot of the bed and wall spaces was enough.I had went very ill-prepared so was very satisfied with the results as they felt very much ad-libs.

I’m learning how important it is to feel relaxed when taking photographs of people as they pick up on any anxiety or ‘vibe’ you might give them. She’s an incredibly beautiful woman and had a great suntan (hence the tan-lines) but more important she was fun to work with.
